Nigel Griffiths, Competition and Consumer Affairs Minister, has decided, on the advice of the director general of Fair Trading, to refer the acquisition by Capital Radio of Virgin Radio to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission for investigation.
The Minister considers that the acquisition raises competition concerns in respect of the market for local radio advertising in London. The MMC will make their report by 14 November.
