Independent Launches Direct Mail Offer

The Independent has launched a direct mailing scheme which will offer around 215,000 consumers in London the chance of getting the paper free for two weeks.

Potential readers will receive coupons through the post which they can exchange for free copies of the title at their newsagents. The offer began at the weekend and will run until March 1. The Independent is hoping for a take-up of around 10%. Similar offers have been run recently by the Telegraph, offering cut-price subscriptions, and the Daily Mail, which targeted Express readers.

In the latest ABC figures for January, the Independent recorded its lowest ever six-month figure with a drop of 9.82% to 263,075 (See Newsline’s features list).
