NME Offers Free Internet Access And Email
IPC Magazines’ weekly music title, NME, is to become the first UK music mag to offer free internet access and free Net mail in an initiative created by the new IPC Electric division (see IPC Electric Is Unveiled). A covermounted CD on this week’s edition of the magazine offers readers the software to register with the nme.com ISP where they can set up email addresses with the @nme.com suffix.
Anthony Thornton, editor of nme.com, says: “We expect a massive amount of interest in what is essentially the coolest email address in the world and free internet access with a special nme.com Internet Explorer 5 browser.”
IPC Electric is developing a women’s network of websites drawing on material from the publisher’s portfolio of women’s consumer magazines, which includes Marie Claire and Woman.
