Maiden Expects To Be Bowled Over By First Half Results

Maiden Group plc expects its revenues for the first half of this year to be at least 29% ahead of the same period last year. Chairman Martin Boase made the announcement at today’s AGM. “We indicated at the preliminary results in March and in our annual report that the strong performance in the last six months of last year had continued into the current financial year.” he said.

Mr Boase also said that advance bookings for the third quarter were “well ahead” compared to this time last year, and that particular growth had been noted in the demand for 48-sheet estate. This bodes well for the group, having just acquired Vasey group (see Maiden Buys Outdoor Contractor HG Vasey), which focuses on the 48-sheet outdoor sector in Yorkshire and the North East.

Figures released by the Advertising Association this week showed that UK advertising expenditure broke the £15bn barrier last year (see UK Adspend Tops £15bn for 1999). Spending on outdoor and transport rose from £613m to £648m, an increase of nearly 6%.
