Commercial Radio Outfits Announce Appointments

As the industry prepares for tomorrow’s publication of the Q1 2002 RAJAR figures, radio owners Capital and Emap have announced new appointments within their strategic planning and programming departments respectively.
Jane Bardsley, currently direct marketing manager at EMI/Virgin records, will join Capital on 20 May as brand strategy manager. The appointment was made by Juliet Browse, who heads Capital’s strategic planning department, which has responsibility for researching and marketing the competitive position of Capital Radio advertising and its product portfolio. Bardsley will run a team of 6 brand strategists who are in charge of the trade marketing and commercial positioning of Capital brands.

Over at Emap, Simon Long has been appointed programme director for London’s Kiss 100 station. The appointment is a promotion from Long’s current position as head of music, which he gained two years ago. The appointment follows the promotion of Andy Roberts from Kiss programme director to Emap Performance group programming director earlier this year. Phil Poole, currently Kiss programming editor will now become deputy programme director.
