Sky Mobile TV increases availability

Sky Logo Sky Mobile TV is set to become available to 3 UK customers as well as people on Vodafone, T-Mobile and Orange networks.

The service will be made available off-portal for the first time as Sky is set to host the mobile TV service outside of 3’s own portal.

Customers will be able to access it via the operator’s Planet 3 portal, with the service being delivered by a dedicated video server.

Sky launched its Mobile TV service, which includes Sky Sports channels, Sky News, At The Races and CNN, in 2005.

In 2007, Sky added 24-7 Football to the service, which provides in-game goal clips and match highlights for all FA Premier League and UEFA League games.

The mobile TV service is available monthly for a flat fee of £5 or £1 per day.

In August, Sky appointed Tim Hussain as its first head of mobile advertising – responsible for developing mobile brand activities (see Sky Makes Mobile Appointments).

At the time, the broadcaster had around seven million unique visitors per month through mobile network portals and its own range of WAP sites.
