BBC Ones’s Strictly Come Dancing and ITV1’s The X Factor continued to battle it out for the highest viewing figures this weekend.
On Saturday evening, Strictly Come Dancing with Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly, attracted over 9 million peak viewers and an average 41.3% audience share between 6.45pm to 8.05pm.
ITV1’s rival show, The X Factor, pulled in slightly less between 7.45pm and 9.15, with 8.9 million peak viewers and an average 36% audience share.
However, Sundays episode of The X Factor, on at the earlier time of 7pm, banked more than 9.8 million peak viewers in the last 15 minutes of the show, with an average 38% audience share.
Strictly Come Dancing, scheduled in at 8pm as the hour-long X Factor programme finished, secured a 31.6% audience share with 8.4 million peak viewers.
Both shows pulled in the highest viewing figures over the weekend, even topping the Friday evening soaps, which saw Coronation Street pick up 7.9 million peak viewers.
