Today Listeners Also Listen To Commercial
Research from the Radio Advertising Bureau on the last quarter of 1993, shows that 59% of listeners to Radio 4’s Today Programme in London were also listeners to Commercial Radio. This represents a 6% increase on the previous six months, while nationwide the Commercial Radio network reaches just under 47% of Today listeners, a 5% rise over the period.
Douglas MacArthur, managing director of the RAB said, “All the attention has been on the substantial gains that Commercial Radio is making at the expense of Radio 1. These latest figures will surprise many people who have the perception that Commercial Radio does not reach the Today type of audience. The gains in audience by Commercial Radio are across the listening spectrum”.
