Daily Mail Buys Regional Publisher

The Daily Mail and General Trust is to buy T Bailey Forman, the company that publishes the Nottingham Evening Post, for £92.85 million. The Daily Mail and General Trust owns Northcliffe Newspapers who will take over the actual running of the titles. The deal has yet to be confirmed by the Monopolies and Mergers Commission, so until then there will be no involvement from Northcliffe. DMGT has also acquired an associated printing company.

Northcliffe had emerged as favourites, although the successful bid was higher than initial expectations. T Bailey Forman’s stable of Midland based titles includes the weekly Long Eaton Advertiser as well as the Nottingham Evening Post.
