IBM Sponsors Discovery’s Science Programmes
United Artists Programming, (UAP) has signed a deal with IBM to sponsor all of the Discovery Channel’s themed science programmes. The integrated package includes on-screen credits, break bumpers and promotions, plus a teletext service, an Internet site and below-the-line support. This will include an on-screen hotline inviting viewers to call for a pack which contains among other things the channel’s magazine, Destination Discovery with an advertorial from IBM.
The sponsorship breaks on screen on 1 November 1995. Discovery’s science strand includes Beyond 2000, which covers scientific breakthroughs, and Invention, with Michael Rodd (ex-Tomorrow’s World presenter).
