Live viewing figures for Sky Sports’ coverage of the first Premiership match of the season between Arsenal and Middlesbrough last Sunday, have shown that it was watched by 1,061,360 viewers for the average duration of the match and achieved a TVR rating of 8.2. For the peak quarter hour this figure rose to 1,205,838 and a TVR of 9.3. This is an increase on the previous week’s Charity Shield match between Everton and Blackburn which had an average of 727,948 viewers and a peak quarter hour of 829,824.

Among Men 16-34 the Arsenal match was watched by 352,436 viewers, a TVR of 16.4 for the match average. For peak quarter hour the number of viewers increased to 373,926 and a TVR of 17.4. For all Men viewers the figure was 690,034 and a TVR of 13.3 and for peak quarter hour the figure was 791,160 with a TVR of 15.2.
