Global Radio’s chief operating officer Don Thomson is leaving the company at the end of the month without a job to go to.
Thomson, who played a key role in Global’s acquisition of GCap Media last year, said that having been in the commercial radio industry for more than 24 years, he is pleased to have played a part in the creation of Global Radio.
Thomson was previously commercial and operations director at Chrysalis before Global Radio bought it out in 2007.
“Having been involved for over 24 years in the commercial radio industry, I am delighted to have served a key role in the creation of Global Radio, now the UK’s largest commercial radio group, and to have played a significant part in its success,” he said.
“I therefore feel that my job is now done and I look forward to taking on the next challenge and hope Global enjoys continued success.”
Stephen Miron, Global Radio’s chief executive, added: “Don has made a great contribution to Global Radio and we thank him for all his hard work. Whilst we regret his decision, we fully understand his position and wish him every success for the future.”
It is understood that Global will not seek to find a replacement for Thomson.
