Newspapers To Be Sent By E-Mail
The Mirror Group and the Telegraph are planning to send free, personalised versions of their electronic newspapers to users of Netscape Navigator, the Internet browser, next month.
Readers of these papers on the Net will be able to specify which sections they are most interested in and these will then be sent to them via e-mail. Photographs, sound and video clips can also be sent in the e-mail file.
…Scientists in Singapore are claiming that they have invented the first totally secure method of conducting financial transactions over the Internet. The National University of Singapore says that the method involves smartcard technology which will digitally encode and hide credit card details. It is hoped that the product, which will run on Windows ’95, will be available next March.
