Just when a mention of the News of the World started to be associated with readers lost, the phone-hacking scandal has hit the headlines again.
A letter by former royal correspondent Clive Goodman has been published, claiming that phone-hacking was “widely discussed” at editorial meetings at the paper until ex-editor Andy Coulson banned references to it.
Daniel Cloke, News International’s former head of human resources, has been called to give evidence to the select committee on 6 September. Also being called in for the first time is Jon Chapman, the former head of legal affairs at NI.
James Murdoch, Tom Crone and Colin Myler are also expected to be called back to give further evidence on 6 September.
