Applications For New Radio Licences

The Radio Authority has received two applications to run a new Independent Local Radio (ILR) station for Oban, in Argyll. The applicants are Highland Sound (contact Martin Gilbert, 01674 673506) and Oban FM (contact Jan Whitehead, 01852 3000448).

Around 7,500 adults should be able to receive the new service.

Three applications have also been made to run the ILR licence for Great Yarmouth & Lowestoff. They are Coastal Radio (contact Mike Butcher, 01493 653632), East Coast Radio (contact John Hammond, 01502 716800) and Gull Radio (contact Paul Hobbs, 01502 562863).

Around 130,000 adults will be able to receive the station.

The Authority hopes to announce its decision regarding both licenses within the next three months.
