The News Is The Most Shocking Programme On TV
The Radio Times readership survey of viewing and listening habits was published today. Editor, Sue Robinson comments: “Nearly 40,000 people returned our survey which shows what a major part TV plays in our lives. The results provide a fascinating insight into our relationship with the box.”
The news is that ITN’s Trevor McDonald is Britain’s most authoritative and trustworthy newsreader, although the BBC’s Michael Buerk was only 1% behind, with 36% of the vote. Almost half the readers surveyed, 45%, said that the news was the most shocking programme on TV.
While, 38% of respondents are not optimistic about the prospect of multi-channel TV, they think that it just means more rubbish. Only 16% of the sample were enthusiastic about the prospect of more choice.
