Amra will no longer be handling sales for Westminster Press titles after Newsquest Media decided to take on the titles itself.
Newsquest bought the 60 Westminster Press titles from Pearson for £305m in August *Newsquest Buys Westminster Press For £305m, adding to the 120 it already owns. The takeover was investigated by the Monopolies and Mergers Commission but it was decided in October that the acquisition would not “be expected to operate against the public interest.”
Westminster Press has a total circulation approaching 2.2 million and recorded a turnover of over £140m for 1995. Its titles include The Northern Echo, Yorkshire Evening Press and the Oxford Times.
