TV Viewing Summary W/E 11/10/98

BBC1’s decision to screen the film Seven as a spoiler against ITV’s Reckless, has ended with both programmes failing to attract more than 9 million viewers. Seven, which starred Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman and a headless Gwyneth Paltrow, was watched by 8.7 million viewers. Over on ITV the conclusion of Reckless attracted 9 million people.

Channel 4’s imported American sitcom Friends has managed to break through the 5 million viewer barrier for only the second time in this run of the forth series, the other time being way back at the beginning of July. Ally McBeal continues to yoyo in and out of Channel 4’s top ten list, this week it grabs 10th place while being watched by 2.87 million viewers.

New ITV drama Hornblower makes a reasonable debut grabbing an audience 8.76 million and achieving a consolidated share of viewing of 37%, making it the most watched new programme of the week.
