TV Revenue – October 1998
Agency estimates for October 1998 put total terrestrial TV ad revenue (including GMTV’s) at £277.28 million. Year on year ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 all show increases in their ad revenue and GMTV continues to lose advertising income.
In terms of share amongst the ITV franchises, Central and LWT both enjoyed a boost to their ad-based income compared to this time last year. The run up to Christmas is naturally a buoyant time for TV advertising – a peak which will dip sharply as Christmas arrives and consumers spend up. It will be interesting to see if ITV’s scheduling reflects the fact that its audience will have largely run out of money by Christmas and in the New Year.
A full TV Round-Up for October will follow shortly on Newsline.
