MMC To Investigate Decaux Bid

It has just emerged that JC Decaux’s bid to take over its rival outdoor firm More Group has been referred to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission.

Nigel Griffiths, Competition and Consumer Affairs Minister, said that he would be taking the Office of Fair Trading’s advice and require the MMC to investigate the proposal more closely.

The news was welcomed by Clear Channel Communications which currently has a lower offer on the table for More (see More Group Withdraws Clear Channel Agreement).

It is expected that the MMC’s report will be ready for publication by 8 September.
