Outdoor Advertising Association Appoints Heads
Former Tory MP Matthew Carrington and former Express Newspapers research and development director Iain McLellan have been appointed as the new heads of the Outdoor Advertising Association (OAA).
Carrington, the new OAA chairman, was MP for Fulham from 1987 to 1998 and served on the Treasury Select Committee from 1994 to 1996. McLellan, the OAA’s new director, trained in market and research with Unilever as well as working for IPC and regional newspapers before joining the Express Group.
Commenting on his appointment, Carrington says: “One of our tasks at the OAA will be to raise the profile and status of outdoor advertising.” McLellan believes that outdoor advertising “is one of the most effective of all media and has a great opportunity to take over from radio as the fastest-growing and most fashionable advertising medium.”
Carrington and McLellan will both appear at StreetTalk ’98 in Madrid, the outdoor industry conference organised by the OAA and the Council of Outdoor Specialists, on 23 and 24 April.
