The FT outperformed every other title in this sector in terms of year on year growth, with an increase of 11% to 329,871, and its success helped boost the market’s total circulation by 2.3% to 5.861 million copies. The Independent On Sunday will be pleased to show an increase of 1.1% year on year to 287,562 copies while its sister title continued its slide with a fall of 3% to 255,324.
The mid market saw total sales rise by 3.7% year on year to 6.824 million, yet again driven by the success of the Daily Mail and Mail On Sunday. These titles saw growth of 6.9% and 5.6% respectively. The Express managed a small rise of 2,981 copies on last year while the Express On Sunday fell 2.2%.
The popular titles continued their decline, with a year on year fall of 5.3% overall to 15.264 million copies sold. The People suffered the most with a drop of 8.2% while both of the Mirror titles experienced falls of 7% each.
