Granada Seeks Agency For Net Project

Granada’s planned online venture G-Wizz, due to be launched in October, is reported to be currently seeking an advertising agency. The £30 million venture is expected to spend £5 million on the campaign.

G-Whizz, which will be the UK’s first free internet Entertainment Service Provider, will offer access to a range of sites based around Granada’s highest rating television programmes such as Coronation Street and Emmerdale as well as providing e-mail and internet access.

Commenting on the announcement of the intended launch, Granada group chief executive Charles Allen said: “This initiative puts us in an ideal position to take advantage of the commercial opportunities the internet creates. G-Wizz will enable us to take loyal television viewers into the online environment where, drawing on our pay television experience, we can provide specially created content for them to subscribe to and goods and services for them to purchase.”
