Talk Radio Expands Sales Team

Talk Radio has recruited five new members to its sales team to handle its ‘rapidly expanding’ sales business. Paul Seberry, Cennydd Roberts and Claire Ellis join the station as account manager, account executive and sales assistant respectively.

Last month Talk announced that its January sales were 250% higher than the same month the year before and, as a result of this growth, a number of promotions have been made within the sales team. Last week the station announced the creation of a new sales operation based in Manchester (see Talk Radio Opens Manchester Sales Office).

Tim Bleakley, sales director at Talk, said: “1999 will be the year of speech radio. We have put a structure in place to champion the unique benefits commercial speech radio can deliver to advertisers and agencies and make Talk Radio a commercial success.”

In the Q4 1998 RAJAR radio listening figures, Talk reported a slight drop in weekly reach (1.6%) to 2.31 million; the station’s share of national listening was down 0.3% points to 1.6%.
