Bannister Quits BBC

Matthew Bannister, head of marketing and communications at the BBC, has resigned from his position and will leave the corporation at the end of the year.

Greg Dyke regretted his decision to quit in a statement today: “Matthew has been a great colleague in the short time we’ve been working together and the ideas he has contributed to the One BBC restructuring and the future direction of the organisation have been stimulating and productive.

“I’m very sorry he is leaving but he has decided it’s time for a change in the direction of his career. He’s done some of the most interesting jobs around, and BBC Radio’s current success is in no short measure down to the work he did, firstly – and famously – as the Controller of Radio 1 and subsequently as Director of Radio. We wish him success in the future.”
