Crafts In Abundance This Summer
Crafts magazines are springing up in abundance this summer, with the launch of Inspirations (GE Publishing) and Crafts Beautiful (Aceville) within weeks of one another.
Inspirations, a monthly, full-colour A4 magazine, claims to have its eye on high profile crafts features, creative ideas around the home, flower craft and craft tips and ideas. John Lumb of Aim Publications, who are handling advertising for the title, believes that its distinct advantage is having the launch editor of Me magazine, Liz Glaze, as editorial director. The title will target readers between 25 and 44, very similar to the target readership of Crafts Beautiful, due to launch on August 13.
Advertising manager on the monthly, Martin Lack, pointed out to MediaTel today that the magazine is a direct product of Create monthly, an Aceville publication which tested the craft market and found a niche for a more upmarket product aimed predominantly at women with a reasonable income. Crafts Beautiful will have a modest first print run of 25,000, but aims to increase this in the same way that Create Monthly has grown.
