BARB Awards New Audience Measurement Contracts
The Broadcaster’s Audience Research Board (BARB) has awarded RSMB, Ipsos-RSL and AGB SpA Holding its four new audience measurement contracts. One of the current contractors, Taylor Nelson Sofres, has held contracts since BARB’s foundation in 1983, but will have no further involvement once this one expires.
RSMB is also a current contractor, having taken on establishment surveys since 1991. Its role will now change, as Ipsos-RSL has won contract 2, which relates to this area. RSMB gained contract 1, covering sample design, methodology and quality control. Italian company AGB SpA Holding won both of the remaining contracts, with 3 relating to the metering of panel homes and 4 the data processing.
The five year contracts have been split into these four areas in order to increase management efficiency. BARB has also promised a larger sample panel and more effective regional distribution (see BARB Increases Panel For New TV Audience Research Contract). The new contracts commence in January 2002, with an option to extend for another three years.
