BBC Gains This Is Your Life
A £20m deal with Thames Television sees This Is Your Life return to the BBC where it started life 38 years ago. The show, which attracted audiences of 12m to 14m on Thames will fit into an early evening slot on BBC1 from autumn 1994.
ITV said it felt unable to commit to the long-term deal that Thames sought. “The healthier channel will be the one that generates new success rather than relying on old,” it said.
Further BBC deals secure Rowan Atkinson Dave Allen and Nicholas Lyndhurst (all after spells with ITV) plus Angus Deayton and Felicity Kendal.
