NME.com Broadcasts First WebTV Show
NME.com will broadcast its first WebTV show today, becoming the first UK online music site to deliver masthead programming on the internet. Highlights from the NME Premier awards event earlier this year will be available on demand from midday as the site unveils its plans for TV and radio net-based shows.
An internet radio channel, Music Net Radio, will come on stream in the next few weeks, comprising a series of one- and two-hour masthead programmes produced by journalists from NME and other IPC music titles.
Unlike other net-based radio stations which stream a live feed from conventional AM and FM broadcasts, Music Net Radio is unique in being specifically produced for the web.
Editor of the site, Anthony Thornton said: “Once again, nme.com is leading the way by breaking new ground on the web. We were the first UK music website to host webcasts, webchats and video interviews, and now we are the first to introduce web-specific TV and radio programmes.”
