GLR Makes Gains In Latest RAJAR Figures
BBC’s GLR made significant gains in the December RAJAR figures, released this morning. Its weekly reach grew by almost 48% to 436,000; its share of listening in the capital now stands at 1.2%. The station has plans to rebrand itself this year (see Newsline Brief).
Another success for the period ending December 1999 was the Premier Christian Radio which saw its audience figures climb by almost 65%. Magic FM and Jazz FM 102.2 both increased their share of listening significantly: Magic now has a 5.9% share (up 0.9%) and Jazz FM 102.2 takes a 1.9% share of London commercial listening (up 0.7%). The greatest casualties in terms of reach were 963/972 AM Liberty, which saw its weekly reach fall by over 30%, and Ritz Country 1035, which fell by over 36%.
Capital 95.8 FM remains the capital’s most popular station with a weekly reach of just over 3 million, which is twice as many adult listeners as its nearest commercial competitor, Chrysalis’s Heart 106.2 FM, which slipped slightly to 1.4 million. Capital saw a significant drop in its share of listening, however, falling 1.1% to 11.9%; Heart dropped 0.1% to 4.5%.
