The Monopolies & Mergers Commission issued a report yesterday which points out to the ITV Network that its present networking arrangements do not pass the competition test. The Commission has stated that ITV companies must change the way they deal with independent producers – allowing the producer to agree a contract with the network centre rather than through the individual ITV company.
The Commission has also issued guidelines which will allow ITV exclusive rights to programmes for only five years as opposed to the original 15-year contract.
