Dennis Publishing Announces New Editor At Jack
![]()
Dennis Publishing has announced the appointment of Michael Hodges as editor of its flagship men’s lifestyle magazine, Jack, following its recent acquisition of I Feel Good Publishing (see New Acquisition Makes Dennis Feel Good).
Hodges was formerly executive editor of Maxim and Maxim Fashion and has written for titles including The Observer and The Sunday Times.
His appointment follows news that Jack‘s editor in chief, James Brown, is stepping down as director of I Feel Good Publishing (see Lad’s Mag Pioneer Turns His Back On I Feel Good). However, Brown has confirmed he is to work alongside Hodges as consultant editorial director of the recently launched antidote to the ailing men’s lifestyle sector.
Alan Lewis, who previously launched notorious lads mag Loaded alongside Brown, will also continue to work on the title in a consultant position.
Commenting on his new position, Hodges said: “I am extremely pleased to be joining what I regard as a unique magazine. Jack has already established an award winning pedigree due to its talented and dedicated team. Jack has fantastic support from advertisers and I hope to continue to confound expectations.”
Dennis Publishing has also revealed plans to make a “significant investment” in Jack and will increase the number of pages in the magazine to a minimum of 308 from November. Investment will also be made in editorial, subscriptions marketing and retail promotion.
It is hoped that with the added muscle and financial backing of Dennis Publishing Jack will be able to reach the management sales targets it failed to achieve under IFG (see New Acquisition Makes Dennis Feel Good).
