The Starcom UK Group has merged its existing digital operations to create a new division dedicated to putting new media heart of the communications planning process.
The new Starcom Digital outfit will be led by the agency’s existing head of digital, Jeremy Hill, who will assume responsibility for specialist teams working at both the Starcom MediaVest and Starcom Motive offices.
The new structure has been created in response to the increasing role of new media in the marketing mix. It is intended to take digital from being a niche fragmented service to one at the heart of the brand and direct planning process.
Starcom Digital will engage in planning and buying across a number of digital platforms including the internet, interactive television, mobile, gaming. It will also cover a range of specialist services such as affiliate and search engine marketing.
As head of the new division, Hill will report directly to the company’s chief executive, Iain Jacob, who said: “This is an important leap forward for our overall service proposition. Digital now plays an enormous role in consumers lives and our approach reflects this.”
Hill added: “Digital will increasingly define how people consume their favourite media and engage with their most valued brands and services. In Starcom Digital, we have created a group of talented digital specialists who are also fully engaged with a brands total communication requirements.”
Starcom Digital will handle its own dedicated clients as well as those held by the Starcom Motive and Starcom Mediavest. The clients already on its books include Associated New Media, Telewest and Twentieth Century Fox.
The launch of the new division follows i-level’s recent decision to expand its offering to advertisers with an operation dedicated entirely to mobile marketing. The digital agency is also understood to be preparing to unveil a search targeted marketing outfit (see i-level Appoints Marks As First Ever Marketing Director).
