Capital Creates Two New Senior Marketing Roles

Capital Radio Group has created two senior positions to handle the marketing for its regional FM network outside of London and develop its portfolio of Xfm, Choice FM and Capital Gold brands.

The new roles will not affect the group’s existing marketers such as Xfm head of marketing Charlotte Soussan or the regional network marketer Eirween Parker, who will report to the new marketing directors.

The appointments will also not affect Carl Lyons, who joined the group last year as FM network marketing director, but his widened his remit to include London station Capital 95.8 FM. Lisa Higgins will remain marketing director for the Century FM Network.

Commenting on the appointments, a spokesman for Capital Radio Group said: “This is a sign of a greater commitment to marketing with the creation of two senior positions. This will help with portfolio management, particularly in London where four of Capital’s brands operate within the same market place.”

Capital has been restructuring its marketing team since the departure of Capital FM Network managing director, Andrea Vidler, last summer. She was replaced by veteran programming executive Keith Pringle and group operations director, Paul Davies, who took charge of the network’s flagship 95.8 FM station.

Earlier this months Capital Radio Group launched a £5 million joint venture to design, manufacture and market a new breed of digital radios for younger listeners, as part of an initiative to drive the market forward (see Capital To Boost Digital Radio With X-fm Branded Sets).
