Ownership Changes Imminent At ITN

Ownership Changes Imminent At ITN

Under the 1990 Broadcasting Act no single participant in the ITN consortium is allowed to own more than 20%.

Current shareholders are:

18% Each

Carlton, Central, LWT, Granada and Reuters.

5% Each

STV and Anglia.

Carlton’s bid for Central would give them a 36% stake – which would mean they would need to dispose of 16% of their shares. Further changes seem likely if, as expected, Granada launch a takeover bid for LWT. STV and Anglia are also both takeover targets.
