Channel 4 Could Launch New Channels On Sky EPG

Channel 4 Logo Channel 4 could be about to launch six channels on the Sky EPG with a purchase of Life TV Media.

According to reports in the trade press, Channel 4 could be interested in acquiring Life TV Media as it runs the three channels directly below Channel 4’s digital channels on the Sky EPG.

Life TV Media’s Life TV (channel 137), Life 24 (channel 138) and Life Showcase (channel 139) operate above Channel 4’s E4 (140), E4 +1 (141) and More 4 (142).

A report in Broadcast magazine quotes a source as saying: “Channel 4 and Life TV Media are deep in talks and the deal makes a lot of sense for C4. It will guarantee itself decent EPG numbers that run consecutively.”

Channel 4 is currently in discussions with Emap over the launch of a new music TV channel which could replace Emap’s The Hits.

Earlier this month, the broadcaster announced that its turnover had reached record levels, increasing by 5% last year (see Channel 4 Turnover Reaches Record Levels).
