Digital Version Of Metro Launches

Metro Associated Newspapers has launched an electronic version of its morning freesheet Metro.

e-Metro lets readers view a copy of the day’s Metro online, giving them the opportunity to instantly print, zoom and search for text, bookmark relevant pages and save a digital version of the newspaper to their computer for offline reading.

Subscribers to e-Metro will receive an email each morning inviting them to check out the day’s paper online, with the print edition of today’s Metro carrying ads asking readers to subscribe to the electronic service.

Stuart Wood, operations director of Metro, said: “e-Metro combines the strengths of digital publishing, the familiarity of our newspaper format and a simple delivery method to provide readers with a convenient new way of enjoying our quality content.”

As the online paper cannot be downloaded onto PDA devices such as iPhones, the service is only accessible from a computer terminal.

The electronic publishing system behind e-metro is provided by Yudu Media.
