Freesat Sales Soar

Freesat Freesat, the free-to-air digital satellite TV service from the BBC and ITV, has sold 100,000 set-top boxes during its first five months.

Free HD services has reportedly enabled Freesat to achieve high sales since its launch on May 6 (see Freesat Launches Today).

Emma Scott, managing director of Freesat, said she was delighted with the uptake in the last five months and expected sales to continue to increase in the run-up to Christmas.

Freesat is currently increasing its offerings, with a Freesat+ digital TV recorder being made available in November and more channels being added every month.

The satellite TV service also offers standard definition digital boxes for under £50.
