Mackenzie Leaves BSkyB

Kelvin MacKenzie resigned last night as Managing Director of BSkyB after joining the television station in January. MacKenzie, formerly editor of the Sun for 12 years, said he had resigned after “a personality clash”. This is believed to have been with Sam Chisholm, chief executive.

Rupert Murdoch, in a statement, praised MacKenzie’s editorship of the Sun, “His hard work and determination will long be remembered. I count him as a friend and wish him every success.” The resignation of the news editor, Ian Frykberg three months ago is believed to have been a turning point; he was highly regarded by both Sam Chisholm and Rupert Murdoch. There is speculation that up to 6 other BSkyB executives may also be leaving shortly.
