Northcliffe Media announces record audience figures

Man On The Internet Local news and information publisher Northcliffe Media has announced record audience figures across its network of local ‘this is’ websites.

In a statement, Northcliffe said that its network of 233 websites had over 4.3m visitors in January alone – an increase of 39% compared to the same month last year. It added that these visitors made over 7.6 million visits and viewed over 58 million pages.

The ‘this is’ network attracted over 900,000 more visitors in January 2009 compared to the 3.4 million visitors that viewed the sites in November 2008, an increase of 25%.

Mike Rowley, director of digital for Northcliffe Media, said: “These figures are extremely exciting and show that we are going in the right direction with our online proposition. Northcliffe Media has been actively growing its online presence in order to provide our advertising partners with new local audiences and the latest results are testament to this work.

“The quality of content on the ‘this is’ network has never been better in terms of news, information and classifieds and combined with the improved search engine optimisation, we are providing all round better performance for local communities.”

The day with the highest number of visitors across the ‘this is’ network was Wednesday 21 January 2009, with over 336,000 visitors to the Northcliffe Media sites on this date.
