BBC, Channel 4 and ITV representatives have been holding meetings to discuss plans for digital terrestrial television in the UK. A first stage is to agree on a European standard for digital terrestrial television. Existing broadcasters, along with the operator of a Channel 5, would get a digital channel to match each of their existing channels so that no-one would be deprived of a service. Further meetings are planned.
