Associated Buys Out Selec TV

Associated Newspapers is taking full control of the new London cable television station, Channel One, which is due to be launched this autumn. Associated, which owned 80%, has bought out SelecTV, the owners of the remaining 20% of the new channel. Channel One will include more news coverage than originally planned. SelecTV plans to launch its own cable station, called The People’s Channel, and has submitted proposals to cable companies.

NORTHCLIFFE TIPPED FOR NOTTINGHAM EVENING POST

Northcliffe Newspapers is being tipped as one of the favourites to win the auction for T Bailey Forman’s Nottingham Evening Post, with a bid of over £80m Northcliffe currently has titles in Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Stoke and Grimsby. The Nottingham business would complete the Midlands empire.
