Laws Planned For Cross Media Changes
Peter Brooke, the national heritage secretary yesterday made it clear that the government intends to create a legislative framework to cope with multi media developments in the future. He added that the government would be negligent if it did not set a framework for such changes. Broadcasting was, he said, a national resource of the greatest importance.
In outlining some of the questions the review on media ownership will have to confront, Peter Brooke replied to criticisms on differences in satellite ownership rules by pointing out that these were to help start the market and as such have been successful.
