UBC Enjoys Strong Start To 2006

Digital radio broadcaster and programme producer, UBC Media, has revealed a upbeat trading statement with revenues expected to be up by 25% compared to the same time last year.

The group claims that its commercial network advertising and programming business continues to outperform the sector, predicting 21% growth in advertising revenues.

Elsewhere, UBC said that national advertising has been a major source of growth for the company over the past two years, currently representing more than 50% of its revenues.

Commenting on the results, Simon Cole, chief executive of UBC, said: “The same audience fragmentation which creates severe challenges for many in the commercial radio creates opportunities for UBC’s advertising sales arm. Our performance shows that advertisers are increasingly looking for packages, such as those offered by UBC, that run across many different stations.”

Cole continued: “We are also continuing to pursue new ways of generating revenues, through data services such as music downloading. Our investment in the development of a music downloading service continues to make good progress.”

UBC’s strong results continue from a good performance in 2005, with the broadcaster enjoying a 20% increase in advertising revenues for its radio division for the last six months of 2005 (see UBC Radio Revenues Up 20%).
