Radio Authority Agrees Ownership Structure For Emap
The Radio Authority has agreed an ownership structure for Emap that will allow the publisher’s planned takeover of Trans World Communications to go ahead. Emap’s takeover of the radio group would breach the legal limit of the number of radio licences that can be held by any one group. At present no more than 6 licences that broadcast to more than 1m adults can be held, a Trans World takeover would give Emap 8 such licences, including City Radio, Piccadilly and Kiss FM.
Although the details of Emap’s agreement with the Radio Authority have not been revealed, it is thought that a number of the licences would be transferred to a new company in which Emap would have a 49% stake and operational control. KEY *RADIO TAKEOVERS£
