Outdoor Prices Rise Sharply

According to the latest Concord Outdoor Rates Forecast published this week, outdoor advertising prices are continuing to rise sharply.

Prices rose by an unprecedented 20% in the first quarter this year, with a 9% rise predicted for the second quarter. Demand is such that Concord has increased its forecast for the year 1994 to 12.3% more than 1993. Strong advertiser demand in the 48-sheet market has led to sharp rates growth, and lead times for 48-sheet bookings have recently doubled to 12 weeks.

Steve Wilson, Strategic Buyer at Concord, said, “Essentially we are seeing a big improvement in the quality of the products available. The contractors’ investment in their stock has been rewarded by renewed confidence in the medium.”
