The News at Ten is to be moved for one night only to accommodate an extended episode of Cracker on Monday 16th October. The News at Ten will broadcast at 10.15pm.
The long-running arguments over News at Ten’s strict time slot stem from TV contractors being keen to move the news to allow films and feature length dramas, such as Cracker, to run uninterrupted.
The News at Ten has been delayed in the past but for unusual events, or for exceptional interest. If the ITC deem the move unacceptable to the terms and conditions of the ITV contract sanctions could be imposed. The ITC have told MediaTel that they are still in dicussion with ITV over the re-scheduling and would not officially comment on the matter.
