First Advertiser For Electronic Telegraph

The Electronic Telegraph, the Daily Telegraph’s World Wide Web site, is carrying its first paid-for ad. The ad, for Barclays Bank, appears on the Telegraph’s home page as a hypertext link to a page of further information.

The slot has cost Barclays £25,000 and is booked for seven weeks, during which time it will be rotated through the six sections of the Electronic Telegraph. The ad also has a link to Barclays’ own home page and gives readers the opportunity to request more information by e-mail. The Electronic Telegraph claims to have 85,000 registered users and over 80,000 pages accessed each day.
