Directors’ Confidence Lowest For Two Years

A report from the Institute of Directors (released December 28th to the press) says that directors’ confidence in the economy has fallen back to 38%, its lowest since December 1992, mainly due to political uncertainty.

53% of respondents were still optimistic about their own companies’ prospects – down slightly from 56% in October – and almost 8 out of 10 report that their business is doing fairly well. However plans to increase capital spending are weaker.

The survey covers a cross section of 300 IOD members.
