Ulster TV Profits Up 48%

Growth in all its activities helped Ulster Television achieve 1994 pre-tax profits of £7.49 million, up 48% from £5.07 million. Turnover was up from £28m to £31.4m, and included an £862,000 exceptional profit on the sale of part of its interest in SES, the Luxembourg-based satellite company.

Advertising and sponsorship revenue was up 13% to £29.9m, almost double the 7% increase which the ITV companies achieved collectively. Participation in the Northern Ireland cable licence “seems unlikely”.
